ONE PASSPORT, ONE CONTINENT, ONE AFRICA: EFFECTS OF THE PROPOSED AU PASSPORT ON INTRA-CONTINENTAL TRAVEL

ONE PASSPORT, ONE CONTINENT , ONE AFRICA: EFFECTS OF THE PROPOSED AU PASSPORT ON INTRA-CONTINENTAL TRAVEL On Tuesday, 25th of April, 2017 which was co-incidentally a month to our Africa Day celebrations, I was in a building in Oregun, Ikeja, with some highly intelligent and informed people. We were discussing the future of our great continent and our individual and collective responsibilities in making Africa what God had intended it to be - One Great Nation. Mr. Richard Mamah (Editor-In-Chief, The Difference Newspaper) noted that if Africa were to be a country, she would be a World Power and with over 1.2Billion people and a massive mineral and material resources, Africa would be a very powerful country. Hear his words; "everyone is waiting for Africa to succeed, even God, and that is why He created the first Human on our planet" He noted. An editorial on our website titled; " Why We Are Celebrating Africa Day in Nigeria " explains in explicit terms the r...
Honestly, I did not want to publish anything for this week. I had planned to send out an apology to my readers and explain that I am not feeling too well. I have been struggling to go to work and that is because I cannot afford to stay back home, I believe it would only worsen my failing health. So here I am. But before I continue, I have a question o; " are 'agbos' meant to make us get better or do the opposite?" Please, I need your opinion. So, I am writing an article without a title because I have not decided what the title should be or maybe I would want any of my esteemed readers to give it the title he/she would like. "Okay, what should this week's article be all about?" I was asking myself that question yesterday night. " Should I just write another article like the previous one?" Okay, let’s start with the previous one (http://shegzsablezs.blogspot.com.ng/2017/04/a-couple-of-thoughts-over-weekend.html), I sincerely appreciat...

A Couple of Thoughts over the Weekend: Sharing Some with You

A Couple of Thoughts over the Weekend: Sharing Some with You Okay, it was Saturday morning and I was very happy that the weekend was here again. I woke up on the same bed and I was like; " when will one chic even propose to me sef? " I can’t wait to be married off this house, but then I remembered that I am the one that has to do the "proposing". " Hmm, that one go tey small o! " I went to the living room and I saw my mum working on breakfast already; " Hmm, God bless this woman sha, food would soon be ready ". " Hmm, thank God for the food and God bless the cook ". I thought. I concluded breakfast like it was one of my numerous articles and I moved on to other things. Then, I was reading my previous article (http://shegzsablezs.blogspot.com.ng/2017/04/7th-april-genocide-in-rwanda-lets-make.html) and I was like; " do people even care about what happened in Rwanda in 1994? " " Wetin be my own with the genocide ...

TWO YEARS ON: OUR GIRLS ARE STILL MISSING

TWO YEARS ON: OUR GIRLS ARE STILL MISSING “ We cannot claim to have totally defeated Boko Haram without the rescue of the chibok girls ” – President Muhammadu Buhari (inaugural speech May 29 th , 2015) I had a serious augment with Evelyn on a particular day when she concluded that the kidnap of the 276 school girls in the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State on the evening of April 14 th , 2014 was a charade. I could not hide my disappointment that she thought in such a provocative and insensitive manner because the fact that we reside in a part of the country where things are much better does not mean that we should make loose statements about those that have suffered tremendously from the consequences of armed conflict, extremism and insurgency. Over the weekend, I read a number of publications on the Libyan conflict cum civil war and I found out that about half a million people have lost their lives and millions more, internally displaced. The updates on CNN ...

7 TH APRIL & THE GENOCIDE IN RWANDA: LET'S MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE Guess what friends? April 7th, 2017 is my 3 rd anniversary in Sterling Bank Plc. If the truth is to be told, it has been a fantastic journey thus far and I have to state with all sincerity that I have not regretted my decision to leave my job at the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Co-operatives for Sterling Bank at any time in my eventful and educative journey so far. I would have love to give you guys a full gist of my highs and lows at Sterling Bank but something more important is happening today - 7th April is the International Day for the Remembrance of the Victims of the Rwandan Genocide . This article would discuss in extensive details, the historic event and its implications to our continued and collective existence. Rwanda is a very small country, located near the center of Africa, a few degrees south of the Equator. It is separated from the Democratic Republic of Congo (forme...
