THE PEPPERSOUP LOVELETTERS: SEE THE WORLD FROM VICTOR’S LENS.
(A Comprehensive Book Review)

On Wednesday, October 30th, 2019, Victor and I met for the first time following weeks of exchanging calls and messages on WhatsApp at the Ikeja City Mall, Alausa-Ikeja, Lagos. The same day, I got my hard copy of his book – The Peppersoup Loveletters, we had a lengthy conversation and we connected almost immediately, I learnt a lot of things from him and I discussed my plans for SHEGZSABLEZS’ blog too, he immediately accepted to publish his wonderful articles through his column on the blog – Insights On Life.
The first episode of Insights On Life was titled: Your Fears Don’t Exist, it was published on the blog on November 3rd (the first Sunday in November), and it can be accessed here. Ever since, Victor has been giving us fantastic pieces and brotherly advice on how to move the blog forward and connect with our esteemed readers in a more professional way.

The Peppersoup Loveletters is a wonderful book that basically covers all the diverse and most controversial topics of discussion in today’s world. The 81-page book is a massive compilation of loveletters from an author to a peppersoup-addicted populace ignorance of real issues and popular myths that has continued to mislead them from time immemorial. In subsequent paragraphs, I will discuss my take on the book under two separate headings titled: The Spicy and The Salty Peppersoup.
The Spicy Peppersoup: The Peppersoup Loveletters is a short and precise timeless artistic piece, it is obvious the author put in a lot of effort. The book is noticeably straight to the point, it discusses real issues in the shortest and most specific manner. Chapter 15 titled: A Short Piece On Being Good And Evil is the longest chapter in the book but it is only 4-pages and 854 words long.  This authenticates the fact that the author deliberately summarized all the chapters to ensure that the book is no longer than expected.
Additionally, the author used ‘everyday words’ for easier understanding and assimilation. Most importantly, I love that fact that the author was very thoughtful in his quest to infuse humor while touching on real issues and in discussing seemingly important topics. In chapter 16 titled: Soul Therapy Against Depression, our kitchen guru noted; “During the course of your life, you will have bouts of depression. It is normal to all humans, not because they lack happiness or peppersoup, but because they have to answer some questions at the deeper level of their being.”
The Salty Peppersoup – Having discussed the spicy part of the Peppersoup Loveletters, I believe it is perfect time to discuss the salty part of our delicious peppersoup so that we can adequately guide our MasterChef to deliver a more pleasant and enjoyable peppersoup in the future. I would suggest that in subsequent publications, the author ensured that the chapters are grouped into sections for more coordination and easier comprehension. For instance, The First six chapters; How To Date, The Right Time To Marry, Sex on First Sight, Sex is not a sin?, On Abortion and Dear Single are targeted at teenagers, undergraduates and the youth in general. My Youthful Youths is a nice section where these chapters would be subheadings could have been better.
I would also like to appeal to the author to ensure that grammatical errors are reduced to the barest minimum in subsequent editions.

Conclusively, while I understand that perfection is divine, I would encourage the writer to ensure that they are reduced to the barest minimum in revised editions. Nobody wants strands of hairs in their peppersoup.
Finally, The Peppersoup Loveletters is a fantastic read, a wonderful collection of thoughts from an informed individual. My favorite chapters are How To Date, Sex On First Sight, Sex is not a sin?, Woman & Her master, Woman As She is, The Light in your tunnel, The disaster of Mere Book Knowledge and Soul Therapy Against Depression.
Please talk to Victor and grab your copy of the Peppersoup Loveletters
See you sometime in the future.
