HOW TO BE SURE THAT FAITH WILL WORK.

It is pretty imperative to note that the guarantee of what faith is laying hold on in the word of God is sealed by the witness of the Spirit in our hearts and spirit man. As we make confessions pray, desire, meditate never should we violate or run roughshod, or brush-off the inner witness.

It is through the inner witness of the Spirit of God that we receive the information and instructions on what to do, what not to do, what to stop doing, who we must forgive etc.

If the Holy Spirit is not bearing witness with our spirit that something is God’s exact will for our lives, then we can as well stop pulling on and reaching for it with the actions and practices that accompanies faith but deeply are not rooted in God’s Holy Spirit.

Faith only begins where the will of God is known and the will of God can’t be known without the help of the Holy Spirit revealing and bearing witness with our spirit. And this is why the Colossians 1:9-14 prayer is key to walking in faith, as it is a direct request for the knowledge of God’s will so we could please Him.

When we heard God’s word preached, we didn’t just believe, it was the Holy Ghost right there convicting our heart of sin and need of a savior, that made us reach forth and believe and confess Jesus as Lord, then after that act, it is the Holy Spirit that gives us peace and assurance that we are now children of God.

So if the way into the Kingdom was not without the guidance of the Spirit to appropriate the redemptive provision of God in Christ Jesus, then having begun in the Spirit, we cannot be made perfect otherwise. It is the witness of the Spirit that guarantees, it is the first installment on what our faith in God’s word will deliver to us.

Ephesians 1:13b says “in whom also after that ye believed ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise”

Having believed the word, the process of possessing the inheritance is ascertained by the Spirit witness.

It is the Holy Ghost that impresses our hearts saying “that thing is yours, believe God for it’

Romans 8: 17 says “The Spirit also bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God 18. And if the witness is in our hearts then we can lay hold as heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ having access to the inheritance”

From these two portions of scripture we can see how the seal and witness of the Spirit is the other side of the coin in the operation of the God-kind of faith and appropriating our Christian inheritance. You can be sure that your faith will work if you are tuned in to follow the inner witness of the Spirit of God and the leadings of the Spirit. 

No witness, no inheritance.
