16 Worthy Films With Keanu Reeves That Aren’t Broadcast on TV (for the Actor’s 55th Birthday)

Babes in Toyland (1986)

According to the plot, 11-year-old Lisa finds herself in a world of toys and together with her new friends she tries to stop the wedding of young Mary and old Barnaby. River’s Edge (1986)
This drama tells us about a group of teenagers, one of which has murdered his girlfriend and left her body on the river’s edge. The others have to choose whether they’re going to inform the police or keep silent and not betray their friend.
By the way, the plot of this film is based on actual events: 16-year-old Anthony Jacques Broussard strangled 14-year-old Marcy Conrad, left her body in bushes, and showed the body to his friends. They, in their turn, didn’t inform the police about the murder.
The Night Before (1988)
According to the plot of this comedy, Keanu’s character, high school student Winston, wakes up somewhere in the middle of the road. He has no idea how he got there and he has to find out what happened the night before.
Permanent Record (1988)
When David Sinclair, a popular and talented student, commits suicide, his best friend Chris (Keanu Reeves) takes on many of his responsibilities, thus, he faces all the troubles that David used to face. In general, this drama depicts the problem of suicide among teenagers and shows the reactions of their friends.
The Prince of Pennsylvania (1988)
Teenager Rupert Marshetta needs money to arrange his future life together with his beloved so he decides to kidnap his own father for a ransom. But no one cares about it and doesn’t want to pay the ransom.

This light comedy consists of 2 parts. Reeves plays a blockhead there. In the first film, his friend and he travel in a time machine and transfer different historical figures in our time to write an essay with their help. In the second part, Bill and Ted fight against their android doppelgängers, which were sent from the future by Death.

Keanu Reeves’ character Martin works at a radio station that hosts a special guest, Pedro Carmichael (Peter Falk), a popular radio series writer. Every day, Pedro reads a part from his novel and the radio broadcasts break all their records. Then he adds Martin’s complicated relationship with aunt Julia, who he’s in love with and who’s not related by blood, to the plot. At first, neither Martin nor Julia realize they’re a part of the novel.
My Own Private Idaho (1991)
This adventure drama tells a story of 2 guys who have completely different destinies: Mike is a gay guy who suffers from narcolepsy and Scott is the son of the mayor of Portland. Together they try to find Mike’s mother. The film is pretty complicated and deep, with a psychedelic atmosphere.

This romantic drama is a remake of Four Steps in the Clouds (1942).
