His name is Pa Adama Aduku, he was born in 1918 in a suburb which is present-day Kogi state. He joined the Nigerian Military in 1942 when he was just 24 years old.
Pa Aduku joined the Nigerian contingent fighting for the British colonial army in Burma and Egypt during World War II. He returned to Nigeria in 1946 after the second World War and quit the military a few weeks later. In an interview with The PUNCH, he said he later rejoined the Military in 1950 after his wife had 'put to bed'.
By 1957, Aduku finally retired and started a new life as a trader at the Tinubu Square in Lagos Island at the age of 39. He died on the 31st of December, 2019. As a matter of fact, just a few hours before 2020. He died at the age of 101.
