THURSDAYS WITH COLLYBRIGHT

On UAE Government and Nigerians Trending Issue.

A Facebook user - Joy Amata, living in Dubai shared this:

I’ve seen trending videos of people crying that and I’d like to make some things clear. I asked around to be sure of what I’m about to write:

1. They did not only stop tourist visa change for Nigerians, it’s same for many other nationalities.

2. Most of the people crying wolf are people who have overstayed their visa for about a year, I’ve seen one who over stayed 5 years till same UAE government gave them Amnesty visa for 6 months last year.

3. Many dont want to work legal jobs because Illegal work de give them money pay legal job so they keep doing visa change for 5 years.  I had a Ugandan roommate that lied she was working and had been in Dubai for 5 years, I no know say na Ashawo she de do. She got repatriated from Airport the day she went for visa change, they checked her passport and saw she’s been on visa change all these years and it’s illegal to work on tourist visa so how were you surviving all these years?

4. UAE government gave people with expired visa during the pandemic to stay from March till December but they changed their mind that they have until August to stay. Them need money too.

5. Emiratis are not racists, they have a very strong culture so if you respect them, they respect you back. Many Nigerians here are employed by Emirati owned companies. Na the ones whose nationality I can’t mention de cause discrimination because when they are in manager position, they chose not to employ certain nationalities. In fact, the Crown Prince of Dubai paid the bills of a Nigerian couple that gave birth to quadruplets last week.

6. Russians, Uzbekistan, Filipinos, Ethiopians, UGANDANS, and many other nationalities de do Ashawo too. Number 1 for fraud here na Indians but you won’t hear about it, they don’t sell themselves on Social Media. You can only see good stuffs mostly about them.

7. Nigerian government DID NOT send free repatriation flights. People paid 2500aed(300k naira) to be on that flight, so some people for that street don’t have money to pay , not even rent sef. Hence the videos so they’ll send them free flight.

8. I know Nigerians who own companies, villas and most of my friends work in good companies, we are all on resident visa and none of us have been chased from our work or homes.

9. Y’all need to stop spreading these rumor. I’m in Dubai but I no even hear anything but na naija I de hear all this news. A friend of mine (Nigerian) did her medical for RESIDENT VISA yesterday, 5th August 2020.
