Auroville: the city of the future where politics, religion, and nationality don’t matter
Auroville, or ’the City of Dawn’, is an
international township located in the south of India. The township is meant to
be an experimental international community free of politics and religion.
After looking at all these bright and
beautiful pictures that were taken by Anne Schonharting, we at Bright Side
decided that the experiment was a success!
The geographical and spiritual heart of
Auroville is Matrimandir. It’s a temple for meditation and yoga practice.
Matrimandir is absolutely free of any religion.
But if you think life in Auroville is an
endless holiday, then that would be totally wrong. Everyone there has something
to do.
The main purpose of education in Auroville is
to give a child an opportunity to grow up, develop, and completely fulfill
their dreams. The main emphasis is on exercise and an improvement of their
creative skills.
There are no cars in this township. The main
vehicle they use is a motorcycle.
There are more than 2,000 people from 45
countries in Auroville.
Auroville is an experimental attempt to build
a huge ecovillage where people of all countries live in peace and harmony
together. Step by step, they create their own perfect place. Since the city is
still existing, it proves that this project was an absolute success!
