BIBLE TEACHINGS WITH JOEL OSOBA

RENEWING THE FIRST RESPONSE OF THE MIND.
Focus after discipline is a very broad and fundamental subject to the fulfillment of God’s plans for you.
One main reason dreams are left unborn is because of a lack of Focus. Just take a cue from the mother hen, who sits in a heated focus on her eggs. Without that sacrifice and discipline to sit and focus her heat energy on the eggs no birthing, and you can take a cue from her, as we explore the dynamics of Focus.
Repetition of this is because the simplest of truths sink into our being and take root by repetition. An idea when comprehended will never be forgotten. Hence the approach of repetition. Reference Texts: 2 Corinthians 4:18
Because we don’t focus our attention on what is seen but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but the unseen realm is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18 TPT (https://bible.com/bible/1849/2co.4.18.TPT)
Another version puts it thus.
For we fix our attention, not on things that are seen, but on things that are unseen. What can be seen lasts only for a time, but what cannot be seen lasts forever.” 2 Corinthians 4:18 GNT (https://bible.com/bible/68/2co.4.18.GNT)
Fix our attention, Focus our attention. Focus = Attention
Intense focus on a task can make you blind even to stimuli that normally attract attention.
So here’s to how deliberate focus can be used to program “automatic focus” and thereby renewing the first response of the mind. Focus can both be automatic (involuntary, intuitive) and deliberate. Repeated Deliberate Focus/ attention will program/ shape our automatic focus.
What is Deliberate Focus? It’s what you pay attention to by an act of your will. The “Involuntary Focus” is what takes your attention without you noticing it and this is what causes our distractions so the aim is knowing how to master our involuntary focus so that distractions reduce.
And this must be kept on throughout life, It’s a lifelong practice and routine. There’s never letting up for greatness' sake, no calming down. The Bible says “Be ye renewed in the spirit of your mind” Eph.4:23
The phrase “spirit of the mind” means the automatic response of your mind, the character of the mind, it’s biased, its predominant involuntary disposition, etc. If you have noticed, you have an automatic, involuntary response that is predictable in particular situations. Sometimes, they are good and at times they are less than good and at times we wish we can help it. And God’s word tells us we can, we can be renewed in the first response autopilot of our minds.
Activity 1: Say to yourself “I can be renewed and reprogrammed in the first responses of my mind” “I can change the involuntary response of my mind” Why is this important? The automatic response of the mind is the main driver of our lives.
It is that part Jesus says “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth leaketh” (paraphrase mine) leaketh… indeed. The involuntary focus has a share of our attention by about 75% while the deliberate focus has about 25%. But the good thing is that the power of the 75% is actually given to it by the deliberate 25%. So to reprogram automatic focus, The focus must be forced. Force Focus. You force it by choice and as you do on a regular routine basis the automatic focus follows suit. So the question to ask “is what have you been wanting to focus on?” Deliberately focus on it regularly after a while it becomes your automatic. So take note that automatic focus is the background program running your life. And that you can reprogram it, be renewed in the spirit of your mind, by choosing what you deliberately pay attention to. You will discover you are a less distracted person as you choose to Force Focus. That way you will reprogram the first response of your mind and your biases and you will redirect your life in tandem with God’s plans.
