Disappointment (This Appointed Time): Chapter One
Tayo and Vanessa were one lovely couple everyone in a relationship looked up to. Even those that weren't in a relationship envied their love. Their union was the definition of a perfect couple. Well, enough of the praises. Vanessa was about to take a decision that could end their relationship. She closed early from work that hot Monday afternoon and headed straight home. The thoughts of telling Tayo the new development made her restless.
"How do I tell him?" She asked herself and burst into tears.
"It's for our own good but he won't understand". The tears did not stop rolling down her cheeks. She wiped her face with the back of her hand and headed to the fridge to get a bottle of water. (Phone rings) It was Tayo calling. Vanessa picked up her cell phone and dropped it immediately she realized it was Tayo calling.
"I can't pick his call; he would sense something is wrong with me." She went to bed with so much thoughts about her decision. One remarkable thing about Tayo and Vanessa's relationship was their connection with each other. They could sense each other's pain, sorrow, happiness, problem and so on. Tayo on the other hand was deeply worried about Vanessa. He decided to wait till the next day to pay her a visit. (Phone rings) It was Tayo on the other end. Vanessa ended the call without picking it so Tayo would believe she is very busy.
"I'm sorry Tayo, I can't pick your call. I need to stay away from you to carry out my decision." She said to herself and hurriedly left for work. Later that day around noon, Tayo came looking for Vanessa but she wasn't back from work yet. He decided to wait in his car till she comes back. Evening came, but Vanessa was still not back. He had tried her number several times but she didn't pick.
"What's going on? I don't seem to understand what's going on." Tayo said to himself hitting his steering wheel in annoyance. Tayo was about driving out when he saw Vanessa's car approaching the gate. Vanessa came down to open the gate but to her greatest surprise, Tayo's car was parked in front of the gate. She wanted to turn back but it was too late. Tayo walked towards Vanessa and gave her a tight hug.
"What happened my love? I was so worried about you." He whispered to her with tears in his eyes. Vanessa was stunned, she pushed Tayo away with so much anger. Tears rolled down her cheeks. She wiped her face with the back of her hand and looked away from Tayo.
"What's going on with you?" Tayo asked.
"I have something to tell you." Vanessa's immediate response created an atmosphere of suspicion. Tayo was not himself. He was about to receive the biggest shock of his life. He felt his world was over even though Vanessa was yet to spill the beans.
