POEMS BY ONE MICAIAH
Today's Camera Only
If I had a camera today
I'd tell stories
Of beautiful people
Passing by endlessly
In front of my new apartment.
If I had a camera today
I'd tell the story
Of a potbellied black man
In a carton coloured trousers
And a flowery T-shirt
That can never over-cover
His potbelly
If I had a camera today
I'd tell the story
Of a fine girl
In a black gown
Tightly perfected
To show curves and figures
You can only fantasize about
If I had a camera today
I'd tell the story
Of the writer
Of this wonderful piece
Of how black his skin is
Of how his present pose
Denies the camera
Of how red his eyes are
And how it corresponds
With how high his soul is
If I had a camera today
I'd tell stories
Of how there are only beautiful people
Passing by endlessly.
In front of my new apartment.
