Disappointment (This Appointed Time)

Three days later, Tayo was discharged from the hospital. Vanessa was surprised at how fast he was discharged from the hospital. She decided to use the opportunity to make things right. Prior to these three days, she had tried to talk to Tayo but all her efforts proved abortive. Whenever she came around, he was either sleeping or being treated.          

"He was discharged today ma." The Nurse told Vanessa when she inquired about Tayo. "Ok, thank you very much" Vanessa said.

Tayo was about to take a nap when he heard a knock at the door.     "Who's there?"  Tayo asked.   He went to open the door and to his greatest surprise it was Vanessa. ‘What do you want?' He asked      

"Can I please come in so we can talk?" Vanessa asked. 

 “I'm sorry but you can't" Tayo said and closed the door.        

"Tayo, I am really sorry please just hear me out for once!!" Vanessa yelled. Her eyes were starting to get watery and she couldn't hold back the tears. Tayo was never comfortable whenever Vanessa cried. He didn't know whether to let go of his anger or still hate Vanessa for the pain she caused him.           

"Don't stay too long please." He opened the door for her to come in.

"Thank you" Vanessa said then walked in.  She starred at Tayo's house like it was her first time coming. Tayo was about to sit when he received a text message on his phone:         

“You are lucky; we didn't meet you at home. You would have been dead by now. Just thank your God. My only chance of killing you has been ruined and I cannot attempt to kill you again. You were so lucky"     The Red Five"

What!!!" Tayo was surprised after reading the text. He was speechless and all he did was stare at Vanessa.        

"What's wrong?" She asked.        

"The Red Five" Tayo said.       

"What about the Red Five?" She inquired     

"They were here to kill me the day I had the accident" Tayo said     

"Wow!! But you weren't home so they couldn't carry out their plan" Vanessa said. 

They starred at each other in shock, waiting for one of them to break the silence.
